I'm Still Knitting

I started this cute little spidery topper a couple of weeks ago and overall I'm quite happy with the way it looks. What I'm not happy about is the yarn. I've been knitting from the stash and I had the KnitPicks CotLin in a Moroccan Red and decided to use it. As I was knitting I found that it left fuzz everywhere but hoped with washing it would go away. It was worse, when I washed this thing the color bled out something fierce. Too bad really since I wanted to wear it with a white t-shirt underneath. I hope I never get caught in the rain.

Because I had more of this stuff and before I knew it would bleed, I knit a swatch with two other cotton yarns intending to buy a little of a lighter color to make the project below. I had the purple and black and thought to use the red and maybe buy two skeins of a lighter color.

That idea of course got blown away and I had to go buy a little more cotton yarn in two different colors for this project.

Both the spidery t-shit and the striped tank above come of the Interweave Knits Summer 2009 magazine. This is the first time I've gotten this magazine and the fact that I'm able to find two things to make from it makes this my new favourite magazine.

I've also been really really bad. I ordered 14 skeins of Noro Kureyon from Webs. I just couldn't help myself, I was just browsing through the colors and before I knew what happened I'd bought the stuff, bad me. Now I'll just have to find a nice project for it.

That's too bad about the bleeding - that yarn colour is gorgeous! Both sweaters are beautiful though.... I will have to check out the magazine :)

I am a sucker for every magazine but will never get subscriptions anymore, even if I really love the magazine. I love the sweaters and all of your yarn. I did not know yarns could bleed. Fabrics, I always wash alone first, but even those rarely bleed the way they used to years ago.

Carmen, I've pretty much stopped buying knitting magazines because every time I do I end up never knitting anything from it. Wrong gauge, wrong yarn, whatever. This one is different though, a real quality magazine. Brenda, I had no idea that yarn bleeds either, I was shocked. Good thing I washed that top before I used the leftover yarn in the other project. Now that would have been devastating. I did email KnitPicks but haven't received a response.

I like IK too.

Your projects are beautiful. Sorry about the running dye. How frustrating. Bearfoot yarn does that too, and for what it costs, that's a shame.
